Aurora Kagawa-Viviani Receives the UHM Social Science Research Institute Research Support AwardApril 2023

Congratulations to Dr. Aurora Kagawa-Viviani for receiving a UHM Social Science Research Institute research support award for her proposal “Community Water Science: Urban Pūnāwai as Incubators of Participatory Research and Innovation.” The aim of the project is to merge frameworks of citizen science and models of community participation to support the design and establishment of an urban spring (pūnāwai) monitoring and stewardship network. This award will help to subsidize the hire of a graduate student (Andrew Lewis) to assist with researching the pūnāwai, focusing on urban O‘ahu. Additional funding to further support this study is encouraged and welcomed through donations to the Community Water Research and Initiatives Fund (https://giving.uhfoundation.org/funds/13011604)/
