  • PhD, Environmental Biophysics, The University of Tokyo, 2002
  • MS, Soil Physics, the University of Tokyo, 1996
  • BS, Revegetation Technology, the University of Tokyo, 1994

FIELDS OF INTEREST:

  • Terrestrial ecosystems-climate interaction
  • Terrestrial ecosystems dynamics
  • Climate change
  • Environmental biophysics
  • Hydroclimatology
  • Ecohydrology
  • Environmental water quality
  • Forest hydrology

  • Tropical forests
  • Global water cycle

I am investigating the interaction between climate system and biosphere. Forests, for example, that grow as a result of a certain level of precipitation, generate moisture in the atmosphere through evapotranspiration, and this contributes to precipitation levels in that same region.

My research group is focused on interactions of this sort in terrestrial ecosystems, involving the flow of energy and materials through the atmosphere, plants and soil.
