National Institute for Water Resources, Water Resources Research Institute Program

PROJECT PERIOD:
3/1/2012 - 5/2/2012

ABSTRACT:

The purpose of this project was to articulate and disseminate both the challenges to, and importance of, sustainability of freshwater supplies at a Water Forum that was held in the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) Sustainability Courtyard (SC). The primary goal was the promotion of water resource management literacy. The interdisciplinary project involved collaboration among UHM faculty and students, as well as Federal and State agencies involved in water management. Students were involved in the planning of the event, as well as data collection and the preparation of conference posters and exhibit materials in collaboration with Water Resources Research Center faculty and affiliates. The SC as a center of campus engagement was an educational benefit to facilitate understanding of key issues associated with water management in the State of Hawai‘i.
