Dr. Emily Marron is an environmental engineer and chemist interested in understanding the effects of chemical contaminants on human health and the environment. She is especially interested in understanding the transformation of organic compounds during drinking water and wastewater treatment, including chemical oxidation and disinfection. Current research projects include (1) overlooked oxidation of aqueous alcohols: kinetics, mechanism, and relevance to water reuse, (2) transformation of surfactants during wastewater treatment, and (3) identification of disinfection byproduct precursor compounds in JP-5 jet fuel.
