"Water Use in the Production of Bio-Fuels"
Michael Cooney, Associate Researcher, Hawaii Natural Energy Institute, University of Hawaii.
Abstract:
In the production of bio-oils or biodiesel from oil-seed, microalgae, or yeast; water and extraction costs are some of the more prohibitive steps in
the process. This presentation will discuss water use, and extraction, in the context of the overall process of producing bio-oil from microaglae,
as well as review past and current techniques. Commentary will be given on the commercial potential of this process.
