Tsunami Observer Program

ABSTRACT:

The mission of the Tsunami Observer Program (TOP) is to obtain accurate measurements of water run-up (elevation above mean sea level) and inundation distances resulting from tsunami waves for use in preparing emergency response and evacuation maps for the State of Hawaii. The project involves the coordination and training of teams of volunteers on all of the major Hawaiian islands to document wave runup and damage caused by tsunami waves if and when they occur.
